Can you draw a picture of God? Probably not because God is invisible. But if you drew a picture of Jesus you would be close. In fact, the Bible says Jesus is the image of the invisible God and the exact representation of His nature.
“He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation” (Colossians 1:15).
“And He is the radiance of His glory and the exact representation of His nature..” (Hebrews 1:3)
As God, he was equal to the Father; but, as God-man and Mediator, he was appointed to be the absolute disposer, director, and governor of all persons and of all things. Jesus after He was raised from the dead, said to the disciples, “All authority has been given unto me”.
The invisible God (as the Holy Spirit) gave His seed to impregnate a human woman and conceive of this God-man, Jesus. Thus, Jesus has the physical characteristics of the human mother and the nature of His invisible Father. In other words, God has revealed His invisible self to mankind in a visible form in the image of the humans He created.
It is vitally important that we understand (and believe!) that Jesus is very God. In these last two thousand years, God has chosen to speak to us through and by His Son, Jesus. Prior to this, God spoke through prophets and forefathers who then related God’s message to us.
To know Jesus is to know God. To hear what Jesus says is to hear what God says. There is no need to bypass Jesus to hear from God in heaven. Jesus makes God visible.
